“I’m interested in the spaces that exist between our vision and cognition. Our memory only registers a fraction of what we see on any given day. What gets lost in the mechanics of vision – this visual waste or unstructured data – informs my work, and how I approach my practice.”
Jared’s abstract, figurative and portrait watercolor and acrylic paintings are inspired by visual distortions, memory fragments and ephemera. Capturing the expressions, cultural cues and transitory familiarity of his surroundings, his work is at once accessible and universal in its depiction of the human condition. Jared’s approach to the collective conscious is informed by both his international travels and time in the American West – voyages distilled in his paintings through simple line, color and composition.
Los Angeles born and based in Miami, Jared received his undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of California Berkeley College of Environmental Design and his Masters from New York University. Jared’s paintings have been exhibited at the interdisciplinary MATATU festival in San Francisco, during Art Basel Miami Beach week, and can be found in the homes of private collectors around the world.
