My works are about power, influence, and seductiveness. They take words and speech that is meant to persuade and invite, to address issues around political ideology, wishful thinking, fantasy creation and society as an entity that can be influenced. In this work, I examine notions of hierarchy, idealism, and personal narrative. Inspired by dioramas and immersive spaces, Harris utilizes installation and video to work through how power flows back and forth between politicians and society, artwork and viewer, as well as personal history and broader narratives. Her work offers new ways of thinking about fantasy and symbolic representation as a way of navigating and understanding the world.
While the installations no longer exist, the videos have both been exhibited alone and continue to express these ideas.
